Out to a delicious late breakfast at Global Cafe in Lawrence, KS
We didn't make it long on the road before being tempted by billboards to go to the OZ Museum in Wamego, KS. I'm so glad we stopped though!
Dowtown Wamego
The OZ Museum was totally rad, and truth be told, I got a little emotional while I was there. My aunt, who died very unexpectedly about a year ago, was the world's biggest Wizard of OZ lover. I'm so glad we decided to stop, and it was absolutely in her honor that I was so enthralled by it all.
Look! Fat Dorothy is the cutest.
We also stopped at the OZ Winery and a local thrift store.
And then after picking up our pace once again, we ran into this:
We sat in traffic on 70 West for an hour. With no air conditioner. In humid, 90+ degrees weather. Melting, I tell you, melting.
As soon as we started moving a little we decided to get off at the first exit, trust an atlas, and find an alternate route.
We wound up in tiny Lincoln, KS and opted to find dinner. But I needed to stretch in the street first.
Small town America.
The only way to survive traveling in a hot car for 10 hours in a day.
We didn't make it to our Denver hotel until after 2am. Gerry was such a trooper.

How fun! i enjoyed all photos and i also do the same when I'm traveling for long hours (unzipping pants)
